From April 24 to 27, 2026, the Apulia region will host the International Folklore Festival “Spring in Apulia” (International Folklore Festival “La Primavera in Apulia”), held in Alberobello and Matera. The event brings together folklore ensembles from different countries and turns Southern Italy into a meeting point for cultural dialogue, traditions, and live stage performances.

The festival offers participants the opportunity to discover some of the region’s most iconic historical sites, including the famous trulli houses of Alberobello, dating back to the 14th century, and the unique rock city of Matera, renowned for its millennia-old history and architecture. During the festival days, participants will also have the opportunity to visit Bari, Ostuni, and Altamura, enriching their cultural experience in Apulia and Southern Italy.

The International Folklore Festival “Spring in Apulia” is open to folk dance ensembles, choirs, majorette groups, and musical formations. Each group will present a program of up to 10 minutes, with both live music and recorded accompaniment permitted. There are no age restrictions for participants, and the festival welcomes children’s, youth, and adult ensembles alike.

The highlight of the festival will be the evening performance in Gravina in Puglia, where the shows will take place on an open-air stage or in a theater in case of unfavorable weather conditions. The festival program combines stage performances, cultural exchange, and the opportunity to fully experience the atmosphere of Southern Italy.
