Kaloyan Nikolov, President of the European Association of Folklore Festivals, participated in a prestigious forum dedicated to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage, held within the framework of the "Cultural Route Festival in Istanbul". The event, organized at the Sepetciler Palace, brings together key figures in the fields of culture and the arts. The forum "New Approaches to the Preservation of Living Heritage and the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage" was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, the Association for Traditional Arts, and the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO. The members of Executive board and reperesentitive of Working groups of “ICH NGO Forum” (Intangible Cultural Heritage NGO Forum), which is established by NGOs accredited from UNESCO for advizory function to Intergoverment commette of “Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage” held a presentation of the activities and considered important issues regarding the promotion for the accreditation of new NGOs to the 2003 Convention. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Batuhan Mumcu, emphasized the importance of preserving the country's cultural heritage, highlighting the role of intangible heritage – traditions, knowledge, and rituals – in maintaining national identity. He reminded that Turkey was among the first countries to sign the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage and expressed his pride in Turkey's active participation in international efforts to preserve cultural heritage. The event is part of Turkey's largest festival, the "Türkiye Kültür Yolu Festivali", which will last for 8 months and cover 16 cities, combining art, culture, and history. Kaloyan Nikolov's participation underscores the significance of international cooperation in the preservation of folklore and cultural traditions.
