The XIV World Folklore Championship "WORLD FOLK 2024" begins today, August 28, and will continue until September 1 in Nessebar, Sunny Beach, and Saint Vlas. This year, over 800 participants from 60 groups and individual performers from various countries, including Bulgaria, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, India, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Israel, Nepal, and Iran, will take part in the event. The program of the fourteenth edition of the forum includes concerts, parades, and competition performances, with key events taking place on stages in Nessebar and Saint Vlas. The first concert will be held on August 29 at the "Zhanna Chimbuleva" Amphitheater in Nessebar and will run from 16:25 to 22:00. On August 30, the program on the same stage will begin at 16:45 and continue until 22:30. On the same day, at 18:30, guests and residents of Nessebar will have the opportunity to watch a parade of Bulgarian and foreign participants in the championship, with a route from the entrance of the Central Gate of the old town of Nessebar – Mesambria Square – "Zhanna Chimbuleva" Amphitheater. On August 31, the program on the Amphitheater "Arena" stage in Saint Vlas will start at 16:45 and continue until 22:00, when the official award ceremony and closing of the championship will take place. The large-scale event is held under the auspices of the European Association of Folklore Festivals – EAFF, a globally recognized, accredited organization with consultative relations with UNESCO in the field of preserving the world’s cultural heritage within the UNESCO Committee for the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The main objective of the forum is to provide a platform for creative collectives to showcase their talents through a competition program that determines the best among them, as well as to further promote the distinguished performances through broadcasts on European and World television networks.
