450 performers from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Romania, Paraguay and Austria participated at the first edition of the International Folklore Festival in Rome (2 - 5 June), announced the director of the festival Dragan Petkovich.

He expressed his satisfaction from the conduction of the festival:

"I am more than sure that the festival has a bright future and it will become successful and well-known as all other festivals", added Mr. Petkovich.

Beside the concerts the program of the participants included unforgettable tours. The first day the participants spent their free time to explore the landmarks of Rome: Termini Train Station, the Church of St. Peter in Chains (Michelangelo's statue of Moses), the Roman Forums, the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Palazzo Venezia, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps.

A lot of positive emotions were captured on photos during the second festival day. Organizers provided a chance for Sightseeing tour of Naples - the largest town in the South part of Italy. Participants explored the medieval Castel Nuovo, the Royal Palace, the Galleria Umberto I, the Toledo shopping street and the tourist port.

For the most curious was organized optional excursion to the smallest country in the worlds, but certainly one of the most powerful - Vatican. Those who took the chance visited the Vatican Palace, the Sistine Chapel with frescoes by Michelangelo, Botticelli and other great painters, the St. Peter’s Basilica.

Groups spent the last day of their stay in Rome in one even more exciting experience - tour to Tivoli - an ancient town near Rome. In Tivoli they visited the Villa d'Este, built near Hadrian’s Villa by Cardinal d'Este as his summer residence during the construction of which he redirected the flow of water to make beautiful fountains famous all over the world.

With wonderful impressions, awards and many new acquaintances, the artists left Rome and promised to come again next year on the second edition of the International Folklore Festival in Rome.
