Two contests for the World cup of Folklore in May will be held in Italy and Bulgaria. Applications for participation in the contests with a very good award fund might be submitted on the official webpage of the European Association of Folklore festivals - EAFF. Host of the Italian contest from 4 to 9 May is Jesolo, which is located in the region of Veneto. The coastal city is very popular among the tourists. The longest beaches in Italy located there, stretching 13km. It is near Venice and its lagoon and many other interesting places in Northeast Italy. Jesolo dates from the time of the collapse of the Roman Empire, when barbarian tribes like the Huns invaded Italy from the the northeast, forcing the population to move to the area close to the sea. Beginning of Jesolo as a tourist town dates from the early 20th century, but only after the end of World War II, the city began to develop. World Cup contest of folklore in Bulgaria will be held from 12 to 22 May in the old capital Veliko Tarnovo. The town was a capital of the Second Bulgarian country and thank to its cultural and historical heritage is an important tourist center. Tarnovo is a major administrative, industrial and educational center of the region. Here are situated "Vasil Levski" National Military University, "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" University of Veliko Tarnovo (the second largest university in Bulgaria), the Cathedral "Rozhdestvo Bogorodichno", Tsarevets and Trapezitsa fortresses, numerous museums and cultural attractions, a total of 1,613 sites of the historical heritage of Bulgaria. In 1879 in the town was held а Constituent Assembly, launching the Third Bulgarian country. Guardian of the town is St. Patriarch Evtimiy, whose statue rises above the building of the Veliko Tarnovo University.
