The name of this folk creation is "Dakki Paliya". In this creation the devil which is used is the devil in Sri Lanka's Salu Paliya. Salu paliya is one of 18 healing rituals or sanni yakuma,based on the belief that certain illnesses of body and mind are due to the malevolent influences of demons and can be cured by driving out the demon responsible for such affliction, through ritualistic dancing. There is a Sri Lankan traditional drum called "Udakkiya". Among the villagers of Sri Lanka this drum is famous for their cultural rituals. The Women's body is similar to the structure of the Udakkiya.So they call Sri Lankan young girls as an Udakkiya. This song's Melody is based on a old folktale and the music used here is the old "Narilatha" folk song of Sri Lanka.Habenaria crinifera is a species of orchid found in Asia. It is known as Narilatha in Sinhala.This flower's shape is very similar to a shape of a womens body. The melodious singing , lyrics and the story of the video is written by the talented artist Anjalee Bandara who has a vast knowledge about the Sri Lankan folk music.She has completed her degree in Ethnomusicology at University Of Visual And Performing Arts colombo.Anjalee Bandara has won the award for the best female Folk singer in Sri lanka Youth Awards .
