Awards and System

Festivals members of the European Association of the Folklore Festivals.

The European Association of Folklore Festivals awards are the “Golden Orpheus” Prize and Diploma or Honorary Sign and Diploma. The members of the organization, willing to obtain prizes of the European Association of Folklore Festivals shall have to apply for it.

They have to declare their will to apply for the prizes of the European Association of Folklore Festivals by e-mail to: office@eaff.eu and they shall receive detailed information about the procedure of applying. In order to obtain the prize during the festival, the presence of a representative of the European Association of Folklore Festivals shall be necessary, who to give their estimation and to bestow the prize on the closing ceremony of the festival.

The underlying criteria for the valuation shall be the quality of organizing the festival, the authenticity of the traditional folklore arts and the performing skills of the participants.

Collective members of the European Association of the Folklore Festivals.

The prizes that the European Association of Folklore Festivals awards for collective members are the “Golden Orpheus” Prize and Diploma or Honorary Sign and Diploma. The “Golden Orpheus” statuette is smaller than the one for the festivals.

The principle criteria for awarding the prizes include the long standing contribution in preserving and promoting the traditional folklore arts, the authenticity of the performances and the performing skills. The organizations – candidates for prizes of the European Association of Folklore Festivals as the collective members must have at least five years experience in cultural activities.

All those wishing to apply for the prizes of the European Association of Folklore Festivals have to declare their will. The evaluation of the performing skills shall be done during their participation in some of the festivals of the Musical Feasts “Euro Folk”.

Regulations of Contest system

Conest system includes the following categories:
A) Authentic folkore songs; (choirs and ensembles)
B) Processed folklore songs; classic vocal and modern arrangement (choirs and ensembles)
C) Instrumental performances; folklore music (soloists, duets, orchestras)
D) Processed folklore dances; modern choreography (folklore dance groups, ensembles)
E) Authentic folklore dances; (folklore dance groups, ensembles)
F) Folklore ensemble performances; (live vocal, instrumental and dance)
G) Folklore customs; replica (folklore groups, ensembles)
H) Old urban songs;
 
*i  individual performers and duets by all categories;
*y  by all categories there is also ranking of children and young people up to 16 years. /in children's and youth groups can participate up to 30% of participants from different age /
 
Formations that can take part in the competition program:
• folklore ensembles, song and dance groups;
• choirs;
• clubs for folk dances;
• groups for old urban songs;
• brass bands and folk orchestras;
• individual performers and duets;
 
The jury evaluates by the following 4 criteria:
   1. Complexity of performance /level of complexity of the performance/
   2. Quality of performance /performance technical skills/
   3. Vision /costumes, props, staging/
   4. Stage manners /behavior on stage, gestures, contact with the audience, spirit emanation/
 
The jury consists of three members. In jury committee may participate only members authorized by EAFF.
The jury is entitled to reduce the overall assessment for non-compliance of regulations.
 
The marks of the participants appeared in the competition program of the authorized festivals are valid for ranking in the World ranking list of folklore.
 
The evaluation system is ten points, taking the average of the sum of the criteria.
